A Momentous Event Was Written in History
By: Central Sampaloc Fire | September 22, 2011
September 21 is indeed a historic date. Former President Ferdinand E. Marcos signed Proclamation 1081 placing the entire Philippines under Martial Law on September 21, 1972. After almost three decades, another event was written in our history, especially in the Fire Fighter’s Community.
Three years ago, the Central Sampaloc Fire and Rescue Volunteer Brigade, Inc. was re-organized. New standards in fire and rescue operations, leadership and community service were set. This year, CSFRVB brought community service into greater heights by being active not only in fire and rescue operations, but also in house builds, school builds, relief operations, medical missions, among others.
On September 21, 2011, the new CSFRVB Fire House located at Algeciras Street Corner Ma. Clara Street, Sampaloc, Manila was blessed in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. CSFRVB celebrates its 3rd Year Anniversary in full blast with the induction of a new set of officers and directors. The new officers and directors took oath in front of BFP-NCR Director General Santiago Laguna, C/Inspector Bonifacio Carta, 4th District of Manila Councilor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno. CSFRVB Fire Fighters were also recognized for their invaluable service not only in the brigade, but also to the community. On the other hand, CSFRVB showed their appreciation to their affiliate brigades and their sponsors such as the Tinapayan Festival Bakeshop and Motolite Philippines. Lastly, www.centralsampalocfire.org, the official website of CSFRVB was launched.
Speakers during the ceremonies included 4th District of Manila Councilor, Honey Lacuna-Pangan, who thanked the volunteer fire fighters for tirelessly serving the community despite being unpaid. On the other hand, BFP-NCR Director General Santiago Laguna thanked the volunteer firefighters for filling in the shortcomings of the Bureau of Fire Protection. Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno inspired the volunteer firefighters by talking about keeping the flame of passion burning, and loving what you do. Moreno also surprised the audience as he pledged to give the brigade five two-way radios, and to give his whole month’s salary as a donation to the brigade in the month of October, which is also his birthday month.
Nearly 200 family members, friends and fellow fire fighters from different affiliate brigades attended this joyous occasion.
This event served as the venue of CSFRVB to echo its advocacy to fellow fire fighters, city officials and all over the world through the internet.
